Balanced summer vacation

09/07/2024

For many, summer is a time for relaxation, recharging, and new experiences. However, it can also be a period marked by high expectations, FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), and stress about making the most of every single day. In this blog post, I will share tips on how to have a more relaxed and meaningful summer vacation, focusing on the balance between doing and being.

Many find it difficult to slow down when vacation begins. Everyday tasks and the fast pace often carry over into the first days of summer vacation, and that's completely normal. Give yourself the space to slow down, put your feet up, and set work aside for the rest of the vacation.

Planning and Spontaneity

It's good to have a plan for what you'd like to do during your vacation, but it's just as important to leave room for spontaneity and unexpected experiences. Our daily lives with work, school, and studies are filled with routines, appointments, and packed schedules, so it's important to take the time during your vacation to feel things out day by day and do what you have the energy and desire for. Spontaneity allows you to discover new things and enjoy the moment.

  • Tip: Make a list of a few must-do activities, but leave the rest of the days open for spontaneous decisions and new experiences.

Presence and Quality Time

It can be challenging to find time to nurture social relationships in a busy daily life, so summer vacation is a great opportunity to spend time with the people you care about. Quality time with family and friends is important, and during the vacation, there are better opportunities to be present and relaxed together.

  • Tip: Put your phone on airplane mode or set it aside for a day, and dedicate time to activities where you can truly be together, such as playing games, going for hikes, or simply having good conversations with each other.

Self-Care and Rest

Summer vacation is typically a longer break for many, making it a perfect opportunity to relax and recharge. Make sure to set aside time for self-care, such as walks, reading, meditation, or taking a nap. It's important to allow yourself to unplug and relax, so you can return to everyday life after the vacation with renewed energy.

  • Tip: Set aside time each day for activities that bring you peace and joy. This can be anything from a long bath to a quiet moment with a good book or a hobby you enjoy.

By planning thoughtfully, focusing on presence and quality time with your loved ones, and prioritizing self-care and rest, you can ensure that your summer vacation is both relaxing and meaningful. Vacation is about recharging, relaxing, and enjoying life, so allow yourself to take things at a slow pace and truly be in the moment.

I hope these tips help you create a summer vacation filled with peace and meaning!
